Merely one day following claims that he didn’t do good at the Senate hearing, President Donald Trump dismissed FBI Director James Comey.

Trump stated that he made the decision on the “clear recommendations” of Attorney General Jeff Sessions and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein.

“The FBI is one of our nation’s most cherished and respected institutions and today will mark a new beginning for our crown jewel of law enforcement,” Trump stated.

Here we have the recommendation letter from Sessions and the official letter from Trump to Comey informing him that he was discharged.

No matter who will be the freshly nominated FBI director, he or she will have to go through an entire confirmation procedure and will have to get 51 votes in order to be confirmed by the Senate. That’s due to the fact Sen. Mitch McConnell utilized the “nuclear option” this April in order to confirm Supereme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch.

FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe will get Comey’s position while the hunt for a proper replacement.

Many speculate that Gowdy should take over.

Gowdy is an ex prosecutor and at the moment serves on the U.S. House of Representatives for South Carolina’s 4th congressional district. He’s involved in the Tea Party movement and was also a solicitor for South Carolina’s Seventh Judicial Circuit.

Additionally, Gowdy was a federal prosecutor for the U.S. Attorney for the District of South Carolina in the 1994-2000 time frame. Back then, he received the Postal Inspector’s Award for prosecuting J. Mark Allen.

Back in February 2000, Gowdy abandoned the position in order to run for the 7th Circuit Solicitor and he triumphed in the general election. More so, he was reelected two times during his time as the solicitor and prosecuted variety of cases, in which seven of them that had the death penalty as a reult.

There’s even been an online petition calling for Gowdy to replace Comey. It was signed by just over 1,000 people.

Back in July 2015, Trump pointed out at Gowdy as a potential nominee for attorney general in his cabinet. Gowdy firstly stood by Sen. Marco Rubio for president prior to endorsing Trump on May 20, 2016.

TREY GOWDY IS THE BEST REPLACEMENT!!!
